Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your habit data stays on your iPhone. There is no account, and we run no server that receives it.
- We don’t sell your data. Today the app has no ads and no analytics or tracking tools.
- Apple and RevenueCat handle your subscription. They see purchase information, not your habits. RevenueCat sends us a record of each subscription event (such as a start, renewal or cancellation), tied only to an anonymous ID.
- This website counts its own visits with a tool we run ourselves, using two cookies. It records nothing for visitors in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland.
- Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. We have no push server.
Who is responsible
Top 1% Habits: Habit Tracker (“the app”) is provided by George James Boyle, an individual developer (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@top1habits.com.
What stays on your iPhone
The app keeps this in a database on your iPhone:
- your habits and goals,
- your check-ins, weekly reviews and life-admin ticks,
- the answers you gave when you set up (such as your goals, your wake and bed times, your reminder preferences, and how you heard about the app),
- your settings, and the app’s record of your subscription status.
We don’t receive any of this and can’t see it. There is no sign-up. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number to use the app.
If you use iCloud Backup or a computer backup, iOS may include the app’s data in your device backup. That is controlled by your Apple settings and Apple’s privacy policy, not by us.
What leaves your iPhone
Only the following.
Subscriptions: Apple and RevenueCat
Apple takes your payment and manages your subscription. We never see your card or payment details.
We use RevenueCat, a subscription service, to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives purchase and receipt information from Apple, an anonymous app user ID, and basic technical details such as your iOS and app version. We don’t send it your name, your email address or any of your habit data. Like any internet service, it can also see the technical details that come with a request, such as your IP address. RevenueCat is based in the United States, so this data may be processed there. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
RevenueCat also sends us a record of each subscription event: a start, renewal, cancellation, refund, billing problem or expiry. Each record holds the anonymous app user ID, the product, the price, your country, the store, and the dates. It holds no name, email address or habit data. We keep these records in our own analytics database, hosted by Supabase in the United States, to count how many people subscribe, renew and cancel.
Things you choose to send
When you export your data as a CSV file, or share something from the app, iOS opens its share sheet. The file or text goes wherever you choose, such as Files, Mail or Messages. We don’t get a copy.
When you email us
If you email support, we receive your email address and what you write. We use it only to reply and to help you, and keep it only as long as we need it for that.
This website
This website has no ads and no outside scripts or fonts. It measures its own visits with a tool we run ourselves, to see how people find the site. For each page you open it records the page address, the website or campaign link that brought you, your approximate country and region, your device type, browser and operating system, and two random identifiers kept in cookies on this site: _sa_v (which browser, kept up to 400 days) and _sa_s (which visit, 30 minutes). It stores no IP address, and the records are kept in our analytics database (Supabase, United States) and deleted after 14 months.
It records nothing, and sets no cookie, for visitors in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, or when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal.
Like most websites, the company that hosts it (Vercel) may keep standard server logs, such as your IP address and the page you asked for, for security.
Analytics, ads and tracking
Today the app has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking tools, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites. The only records we receive are the subscription records described above and this website’s own visit counts. We will update this policy before we add any analytics or crash-reporting provider to the app, and it will say what is collected, why, and who handles it.
Apple Health
This version of the app does not connect to Apple Health and reads no health data. If a future version reads your step count, it will ask your permission first, keep the data on your iPhone, and never sell it or use it for advertising. We will update this policy before that version comes out.
Reminders
Reminders are local notifications. The app asks iOS to show them at the times set in the app, on your iPhone. There is no push server, and we collect no device token. iOS asks your permission first. You can turn reminders off in the app (You tab) or in iOS Settings › Notifications.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your data. Delete the app and its data is removed from your iPhone. If you use iCloud Backup or a computer backup, an older copy can stay in that backup until you delete or replace it. We hold no copy.
- Take a copy. In the You tab, choose Export my data (CSV).
- Turn permissions off. You can switch off notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
- Ask us. Depending on where you live (for example the UK or EU, or California), you may have the right to ask what personal data a company holds about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. We hold very little: if you emailed us, your email address and message; the subscription records RevenueCat sends us, tied only to an anonymous app user ID; and this website’s visit records, tied only to a random cookie ID. Email us and we will help. If you ask about purchase data held by RevenueCat, we will pass the request on to them.
Where the GDPR applies, we handle the little data we receive to run your subscription (our contract with you), to answer your emails (our legitimate interest in supporting users), and to count subscriptions, renewals and cancellations (our legitimate interest in understanding how the app is doing).
Children
The app is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you are a parent or guardian and have a concern, email us.
Security
Your habit data is kept in the app’s private storage on your iPhone, protected by the security built into iOS. Keep a passcode on your iPhone. No system is perfectly secure, and that includes ours.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above. We will make the change before we start collecting anything new, not after.
